I remember when The X-Files movie came out in 1998 and it was called. . . well, The X-Files movie. Ten years later, there is another movie based on the formerly popular television series, The X-Files: I Want to Believe, so the original movie is now being called The X-Files: Fight the Future. Or maybe it was always called that and I just didn’t know it. The point is, the original The X-Files movie is now available on Blu-Ray for the first time.
The Blu-Ray for The X-Files: Fight the Future is scheduled to be released December 2nd the same day as the DVD and Blu-Ray for The X Files: I Want to Believe. That means if you are one of the 12 remaining living fans of The X-Files and you own a Blu-Ray player, you are going to have one Merry Christmas.
The plot of The X-Files: Fight the Future involves agents Fox Mulder (David Duchovny) and Dana Scully (Gillian Anderson) investigating a conspiracy that may involve a deadly virus from outer space. That sounds pretty darn scary, but not half as scary as seeing it all in beautiful high definition with a boatload of extras. You can see a list of the Blu-Ray extras below along with the cover art. The truth is indeed out there. Or down there.
