“Agent Mulder? I’m Dana Scully. I’ve been assigned to work with you.” It’s been 22 years since Gillian Anderson and David Duchovny first began their run on The X-Files, and now they’re back with Fox’s six-episode reboot. “It’s nice to be back in Vancouver,” where the original series filmed its first five seasons, Anderson tells us. “The weather is beautiful right now in Vancouver, so it makes those 17-hour days not bite so much.” Anderson has a packed plate these days, juggling NBC’s Hannibal, the upcoming B ... Fans of The X-Files remember Dana Scully as an intellectually rigorous, science-minded investigator of the supernatural possibilities, skeptical (aliens? proof please!) yet open-minded about far-out possibilities (including God), and passionate about truth, justice and the man with whom she shared an intimate rapport on multiple levels. So much to discuss about what’s inside the mind and heart of this extraordinary and complex woman – and yet what fans really want to talk about right now is what’s on top of her head. Because fans also remember Scully for her red hair, y ... [Continua a leggere]
Chris Carter breaks down some of the items that can be seen on the set of Mulder’s home in The X-Files 2.0. 1. Vacuum Cleaner “The idea here is that Mulder has kind of moved into his living room. It should suggest something else about Mulder that I won’t spoil, but Mulder has moved into the central room of his house, and everything that might come into play in such a messy house is in that room.” 2. Newspaper Clippings and Graphs on the Wall “There’s a theme here on this wall, a UFO/extraterrestrial theme. This is the accumulation of a man’s obse ... [Continua a leggere]
They’re heeere. It’s been 13 years since we last saw Mulder and Scully investigating little green men and tangling with Cigarette Smoking Man on TV. EW made first contact with the revival as the cameras rolled, and we’ve got the intel and photos to prove it.
THEY ARRIVE BY limo, traveling a bumpy road winding through wild territory. They exit the car looking unmistakably themselves, and not. He’s missing his suit. She’s missing some red in her hair. They are older, of course, but time has only distinguished them, not diminished them. They’ve arrived at the home of a woman living on the fringes of society to investigate exactly the type of mystery that made them icons of an earlier era. More than a decade after The X-Files ended, Fox Mulder and Dana Scully are about to be reintroduced to the world all over again… …W ... [Continua a leggere]
They’re heeeere! David Duchovny and Gillian Anderson have reuinted as Mulder and Scully for the X-Files revival series, and EW was first on the scene, getting the scoop as cameras rolled during the very first week of production. On an abandoned farm on the outskirts of Vancouver B.C., we found paranormal detectives Fox Mulder (Duchovny) and Dana Scully (Anderson) investigating the curious case of a possible alien abductee (played by Annet Mahendru of The Americans) at the behest of a most curious ally, the host of a conservative talk show (Community’s Joel McHale). Of course, ... [Continua a leggere]
"The X-Files" will soon be back on the air with a new miniseries, and perhaps no one is more excited about that than Joel McHale. The comedian is set to guest star on the show as "the anchor of a popular conservative Internet news network who becomes an unlikely ally for Fox Mulder," and when McHale visited HuffPost Live on Wednesday, he couldn't stop gushing about the opportunity. "I have been such a huge fan of the show and the movies, so to be on set with them was truly surreal and thrilling and fun, and I still can't believe my good fortune for being on the show," McHale said. "And th ... [Continua a leggere]
“The X-Files” isn’t just the series that brought Gillian Anderson her first Emmy, it was also her first major job in show business. Since then Anderson has emerged as a major force on television and the stage in both the U.S. and U.K. She earned a fifth Emmy nom for PBS mini “Bleak House” and currently stars on Netflix’s “The Fall” and NBC’s “Hannibal.” Next year, she’ll reprise her breakout role as Dana Scully for Fox’s “X-Files” limited series revival. What do you remember about going to the Emmys for ... [Continua a leggere]
The X Files‘ Dana Scully is officially back to work, but she almost slept through her alarm clock. “It feels like it’s been a long time since I’ve played her,” says Gillian Anderson of her role in Fox’s hotly anticipated, six-episode revival of the sci-fi franchise. “I can’t remember what year the movie was, but it felt like [Scully] was further away from me than I’d thought she would be. But I’ve also worked really hard at putting her entirely to sleep, so that was successful; she’s just taken longer to ... [Continua a leggere]
One of our favorite genre shows is FOX’s “The X-Files,” while one of our favorite horror movies is New Line Cinema’s 2000 Final Destination. What if the two were nearly one in the same? We got in touch with Final Destination creator Jeffrey Reddick (@jeffreyareddick) who had a shocking never-before-seen relic to share exclusively with Bloody Disgusting readers. Dated 1994, Reddick has made available (exclusive to Bloody Disgusting) the unused script for his “X-Files” pitch, ‘Flight 180.’ “I was really exciting to find it on old floppy d ... The brains behind Lost, Sex and the City, The X-Files, Empire, Pushing Daisies, and dozens of other beloved shows singled out the line, scene, twist, or episode that’s closest to their heart.
[...] 7. Chris Carter, The X-Files The fourth season of The X-Files was maybe the most intense and difficult season of the show. There was a feature film in the works, a second TV show (Millennium), and right about Christmastime the usual desperation to go somewhere to relax. Typically that meant writing without the phones ringing, and this holiday was no different. My wife and I had gone to Hawaii, where the goal was wake early to rewrite Episode 14, plot the movie with Frank Spotnitz in the afternoon and try to enjoy ourselves otherwise. The best laid plans. My wife got sick, the w ... [Continua a leggere]
Canadian actress Aliza Vellani has been cast in a mystery guest-starring role on Fox’s The X-Files, TVWise has confirmed. The six episode revival is just about to enter production in Vancouver, Canada for a January 24th premiere. Scant details are available about the role that Vellani will play, with no one prepared to say much of anything on-the-record. The most I was able to get out of one source was that the character is a guest lead in the “best traditions of The X-Files”. It was Vellanni’s agent Emilio Salituro, of the Vancouver based Lucas Talent, who first ... [Continua a leggere]
David Duchovny is having a moment, for lack of a better term. The Golden Globe-winning star is returning to TV with Aquarius, NBC's splashy new drama set in the sensational 1960s, his first album, Hell or Highwater, dropped this May and his first book, Holy Cow: A Modern-Day Dairy Tale, came out this past February. Oh, he's also returning to the role that made him a household name, suiting up once again as Fox Mulder in The X-Filesfor six episodes on Fox this coming January. Yeah, a moment is kind of an understatement. So is he crazed? "Oddly enough, not really," he told E! News at the NBC U ... [Continua a leggere]
Gillian Anderson says that until this interview (which began precisely at 9:42 p.m. May 19) she hadn't really thought about what it will mean to play Dana Scully again -- what it will feel like, how difficult it could be. But it's time. She can't avoid it any longer. No more time for "denial," as she calls it. No more ignoring the inevitable: Just days after her weekend trip to Dallas for Fan Expo Comic Con at the Kay Bailey Hutchison Convention Center, she and David Duchovny will return to Vancouver yet again in search of the truth.... and a proper farewell. "At the end of the day I thought ... [Continua a leggere]
'X-Files' star talks Fox's eagerly awaited revival—and says he's up for a second season
David Duchovny says the first page of The X-Files revivial script made him cry—and it’s fantastic. “I got the first script this morning,” the actor told EW during a recent interview. “I just read it about an hour ago and I started crying reading the first page. It was just so strange to see the names on the page. It had nothing to do with the script itself. It was just like, I’d been talking about this for a long time. We’d been planning it for a long time. It took a long time to get all the people in the same place and get the deal with Fox. So let&r ... [Continua a leggere]
NEW YORK, N.Y. - Whether you remember him as FBI agent Mulder from "The X-Files" or the womanizing novelist Hank Moody on "Californication," David Duchovny wants you to know him as something else: The 54-year old actor recently released his first album, "Hell or Highwater." The actor-director claims he's never set out to do pursue a career in music. He credits his children for sending him in a new direction. "I'm always telling them to try new things, but that's BS because I don't try new things," he said. So he took his own advice: He learned to play guitar and began writing and playing hi ...
