Frank Spotnitz talks about the new movie, the secretive filming and a third film as well
Frank Spotnitz has certainly been a huge part of the entire mythology of The X-Files. Starting as a co-producer in 1996, he also has written several episodes of the series and executive produced for the last four years of the series' phenomenal run. He's had a hand in both feature films as well, developing the story for the first film with series creator Chris Carter and he co-wrote and produced The X-Files: I Want to Believe, which comes out on DVD and Blu-ray on December 2, as well. I recently had the chance to speak with Spotnitz over the phone and here's what he had to say about th ... [Continua a leggere]

“I’m done chasing monsters in the dark.” That’s former FBI agent Dana Scully speaking in the trailer for the new franchise feature film The X-Files: I Want to Believe, pretty much guaranteeing an imminent run of chasing, monsters, and darkness. But until very recently, the words might just as easily have been spoken by X-Files series creator Chris Carter. It’s been six years since the last X-Files TV show aired, ten since Fight the Future, the first X-Files movie opened. And according to Carter himself, the search for the Truth very nearly stopped there. & ... [Continua a leggere]
Leaving past controversies behind them, 'X Files' stars David Duchovny and Gillian Anderson unveil some new weird science
It's not often that a motion picture from a TV series gets a sequel — but that's what's happened with the cult series "The X Files," which made international stars of David Duchovny and Gillian Anderson and morphed millions of sci-fi fans into a new identity as X Philes. "The X Files" aired in the U.S. from Sept. 1993 until May 2002 and was syndicated across the world, picking up several Emmys and Golden Globes along the way. It centered on the investigations of FBI agents Fox Mulder (Duchovny) and Dana Scully (Anderson), who tackled marginalized cases involving paranorma ... [Continua a leggere]
X-Files comic books — in the ’90s, four color tales of Agents Scully and Mulder heated up the comics charts and nabbed scores of cash on the back issue market before the comics industry and publisher, Topps, took a turn for the worse…along with the whole “X-Files” franchise. Now in November, DC’s Wildstorm imprint looks to reignite the series’ comic popularity with a miniseries featuring something the ’90s comics never had: a direct tie to the show’s overarching mythos. “They are connected with a part of the mythology that we introd ... DD: This show I'm proud of. I think it's got, overall, if we did 203, and I think we did, there are over 100 that I think are really really good, and almost movie-worthy, so I'm stunned by that quality of writing and execution, still.CC: I remember the first day, in Mulder's office, we were filming that. You saw that these two very strong people. When people talk about the chemistry, I think sometimes that is a misconception. I think it is two strong people who are really bouncing off one another, and that's what makes it interesting, and that's what gives it I think what the so-called "sexual ... [Continua a leggere]

From the show's second season, Frank Spotnitz's name has been synonymous with "The X-Files." Spotnitz wrote some of the most loved episodes of the series -- including "Field Trip" -- and with show creator Chris Carter, Spotnitz has developed much of the show's mythology and written both X-Files feature films. Now Spotnitz is hard at work in the X-Files universe once again, penning Wildstorm's spin-off comic book based on the television series. Illustrated by Brian Denham, "The X-Files" takes place roughly between the second and fifth seasons of the show, stars many classic characters an ... [Continua a leggere]
