“We’re looking at a world where now truth is thrown out the window and conspiracy is now seemingly the center,” says The X-Files creator Chris Carter of bringing back the pivotal drama in the era of Donald Trump. “Everything’s been turned on its head and that’s an interesting time to be telling X-Files stories,” the producer added of the latest season likely set to debut next year. About halfway through production on the 10-episode eleventh season of the David Duchovny and Gillian Anderson starring ser ... [Continua a leggere]

We chat with Chris Carter about The X-Files season 11.
Phoning in from The X-Files set in Vancouver, series creator Chris Carter says he hopes to capitalize on what worked well in the six-episode revival. Naturally, it was the same morning they began production on a “dark comedy” episode written by fan-favorite writer Darin Morgan. Though tight-lipped about the actual plot of the episode, the often cryptic showrunner had more to divulge on the season 10 cliffhanger ending that sent the passionate X-Files fan base into a frenzy. Carter had a plan all along, even if there was no guarantee of life for The X-Files beyond the sea ... [Continua a leggere]
The seminal sci-fi series lives on to tell new stories while embracing the fandom who changed how we watch television.
Nobody blinks when there’s a monster lurking around the set of The X-Files. Nine seasons, two feature films, and a six-episode revival would condition any actor or crew member to treat the paranormal as just another day at the office. But what happens when a superfan invades the production? In season 10, writer and director Darin Morgan cast lifelong X-Files fan Kumail Nanjiani (Silicon Valley, The Big Sick) to play a guest role as the titular creature in “Mulder and Scully Meet the Were-Monster.” His first night on-set, Nanjiani recalls walking t ... For a show about experiences that can’t be quantified, The X-Files isn’t lacking numbers: 208 (episodes), two (movies), one (Speedo). But the most significant might be 10 — as in, the 10 new episodes now filming in Vancouver. After ratings for 2016’s six-episode revival soared to UFO-worthy heights, the sci-fi drama will return in early 2018, reuniting David Duchovny’s believer and Gillian Anderson’s skeptic for another run of out-there cases. Along with a first look at the new episodes, series creator Chris Carter gave EW classified intel on what ... [Continua a leggere]
Gillian Anderson has been playing FBI Agent Dana Scully on The X-Files and its spinoffs since 1993. Even after success starring as Stella Gibson on the BBC’s The Fall, she’s found herself returning to the iconic role of the skeptical Agent Dana Scully again and again, most recently in an X-Files audio series (the second installment, Stolen Lives, is available October 3). The U.K.-based actress, author and mom of three, 49, talked to Parade from the set of the show’s 11th season, debuting in 2018. When you were making the original ... [Continua a leggere]
Exclusive: Karin Konoval returns for season 11 in new roles
Next year’s 11th season return of The X-Files will feature an actress who once played the show’s most notorious role. Karin Konoval (The Planet of the Apes trilogy) previously appeared on the series in 1996 playing a mutant-breeding amputee kept under a bed in “Home.” The episode was so notoriously disturbing that, for years, Fox declined to re-air it. “Home” went on to be considered one of the show’s finest hours. We’re told Konoval will play multiple roles in a rather scary entry in the new season. Teases showrunner Chris Cart ... [Continua a leggere]

The upcoming new season of Chris Carter’s The X-Files has drawn attention for multiple reasons. First, there is the mystery whether it would feature Mulder and Scully’s son. And then, there is the controversy surrounding the reveal that the new season’s writing staff was all-male. At the Fox TCA session, chairman Dana Walden revealed that there are actually two female writers working on the upcoming installment, along with two female directors. “I think that Chris is making moves in the right direction,” she said. &ld ... Fox has taken the hint: The X-Files is going to largely avoid its wildly complex mythology episodes next season. The return of the sci-fi hit for the 2018 season contains 10 episodes, with stars David Duchovny and Gillian Anderson back on board. A full of eight of them will be stand-alone episodes, Fox entertainment chairman David Madden promises. The move comes after last year’s revival received hugely split reviews, with the mythology episodes getting slammed by critics while the stand-alone mysteries were praised. “We’re really proud of last season,&r ... The gender inequality is still out there, but this is a step in the right direction. The X-Files‘ upcoming 11th season will feature two episodes directed by women, TVLine has learned exclusively. One of the helmers, Carol Banker, has a long history with the franchise, having served as script supervisor on the mothership from 1999-2002 and a director on the short-lived spinoff The Lone Gunmen. X-Filesnewbie Holly Dale, meanwhile, has directed more than 100 hours of episodic TV, including such series as Being Erica, Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles, Gr ... [Continua a leggere]
When The X-Files returned for its six-episode Season 10 in 2016, one key agent was MIA: Robert Patrick's Agent John Doggett. Patrick, who joined the Fox drama for the final two seasons of its original run, is currently a series regular on CBS's Scorpion, but the actor admits he would be game to pop back up on his former show. “I haven’t heard from [The X-Files creator] Chris [Carter], but I am totally willing to go back if I think it’s the right thing to do and if they want me to do it," he says. "But at this point, no one ... [Continua a leggere]
Plus, why he's glad Season 11 of the TV show will be ten episodes, not six.
The truth is out there and this time around it comes in the form of an audio story. Mulder and Scully are diving back into The X-Files in a new audio series from Audible called The X-Files: Cold Cases, based on the Season 10 graphic novels by Joe Harris and Chris Carter. The audio story explores the same stories and characters you love in a new medium—directly into your earbuds. The X-Files: Cold Cases was adapted by Dirk Maggs (The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy) and stars the familiar voices of Gillian Anderson and David Duchovny as they reprise their roles as Scully ... If Mulder invites Scully for another round of late-night baseball when The X-Files returns for its 11th season, David Duchovny won’t be the writer behind the magic. Duchovny has confirmed to EW that he will not be writing or directing for The X-Files in its next 10-episode season, though that’s not for lack of trying. “I always say if I have an idea, I would love to write and direct it,” Duchovny says. The X-Files star was no stranger to the creative process during the series’ original run. Duchovny wrote and directed two episodes & ... [Continua a leggere]
Mulder and Scully will continue to have their trusted ally Walter Skinner by their side. The X-Files veteran Mitch Pileggi has closed a deal to return for the recently picked up 10-episode eleventh season of the Fox sci-fi drama and second as an event series. He will reprise his role as Walter Skinner, an assistant director at the FBI, which he played on the original Fox series as well as the 2016 six-episode event series revival, both from creator Chris Carter. Pileggi is among the first X-Files actors to be locked in to join returning s ... [Continua a leggere]
