Scots bring Billy Connolly back down to earth after X Files movie

BILLY CONNOLLY is about to become a proper Hollywood A-Lister thanks to his lead role in the new X Files movie. But Scotland's funniest man is in no danger of letting his success go to his head - because his fellow Scots continually put him in his place. Despite the global stardom, he reckons his twice-yearly trips home keep his feet firmly on the ground because he just isn't seen the same way as "proper" famous people. Billy said: "There was a Scottish girl on the plane when I was flying to London on the way to Vancouver from Scotland. She said, 'I've seen you in films and on TV' and ... [Continua a leggere]

Frank Spotnitz is as surprised as we are that another ”X-Files” movie is hitting the big screen. CLINT MORRIS talks to the former executive producer of ‘“The X-Files” and the writer/producer of “The X-Files: I Want to Believe‘” about why it took so long for Mulder and Scully to be recommissioned. Did you ever think you’d be talking about another ‘‘X-Files” movie? I have to be honest there was a period of time there where I didn’t think this would ever happen. It was a long time coming. And how did it come togethe ... [Continua a leggere]

'X-Files' looking for truth, audience

Psst, the truth is over here. It's tough to find, but in Vancouver, British Columbia, on the P.N.E. Fairgrounds, beyond a roller coaster, past the movie-star trailers and craft-services tent, and on a set designed to resemble a California bungalow, The X-Files is flickering back to life. It's here that the revered TV show's key players -- stars David Duchovny and Gillian Anderson, director Chris Carter and producer Frank Spotnitz -- are reuniting for The X-Files: I Want To Believe. The film, opening Friday, is the second X-Files feature, after The X-Files: Fight the Future (1998), a ... [Continua a leggere]

It's no mystery that 'X-Files' is on the big screen

It's a mystery worthy of Fox Mulder's scrutiny: Why make a theatrical motion picture of that iconic '90s TV series "The X-Files" six years after the last original episode aired? Nobody's doing "Seinfeld: The Movie," "Friends Forever" or "Walker, Texas Ranger, Rides Again." But "The X-Files" is science fiction, and as we know from Trekkies or Trekkers or whatever the FC (fannishly correct) term is these days, sci-fi love never dies. And this past February at the WonderCon convention in San Francisco, those true believers known as X-Philes were sending X's - as in kisses - to the movie's ... [Continua a leggere]

Gillian’s Still a Bit Spacey

Anderson reprises her role as Agent Dana Scully in 'X-Files' sequel.

Gillian Anderson reprises her role as Agent Dana Scully in "The X-Files: I Want to Believe." She spoke to Ramin Setoodeh. I've got to confess. I don't know anything about "The X-Files." OK. Why is it such a big deal? Ohmygod. You're not going to do this to me, are you? Tell me you're not going to do this. Oh come on! It's been such a long time. Hire somebody that knows enough that we don't have to explain this again. I saw the last movie, but I didn't watch all nine seasons. I mean, nobody did. Did they? Yes. There are some people that did. But that's cool. I love running into people who ha ... [Continua a leggere]

Gillian Anderson & David Duchovny reopen the 'X-Files'

There is at least one secret Gillian Anderson can reveal about "The X-Files: I Want to Believe." For Anderson, returning to play Agent Dana Scully, the role that made the 39-year-old actress famous, is what was really scary. "I found it quite tricky over the first couple of days to slide back into it," says Anderson. "It was kind of unexpected and a bit freakish for me." Freakish, that is, until the first scene that reunited her with Duchovny, aka Agent Fox Mulder. It was innocuous - just a brief conversation between the two agents as they walked down the hallway at FBI headquarters. But ... [Continua a leggere]

The X-Files Makes History

The longrunning science fiction television phenomenon The X-Files will reappear after a six-year hiatus in a second film to be released in theaters next week. But the show that brought to life Agents Fox Mulder and Dana Scully and added "The Truth Is out There" and "I Want to Believe" to pop lexicon is also finally showing its age. This morning X-Files director/writer/producer Chris Carter was at the Smithsonian's National Museum of American History to present a series of items from the show to be placed on exhibit when the museum reopens this fall. The items signed over to the Smiths ... [Continua a leggere]

X-Files Artifacts at the Smithsonian

The setting was almost too perfect. In order to get to the ceremony for the donation of X-Files artifacts and memorabilia I had to go into the Smithsonian Institution's Museum of American History through the "staff health center" entrance inside the parking lot and be escorted to the event by an intern who took me through eerily empty exhibition halls, all the items disassembled and covered with plastic sheets. What would Mulder and Scully say? Is the truth out there? The museum is closed to the public for renovations (or so they say...) but the donation of this important collection w ... National Museum of American History Acquires X-Files Collection

During a special ceremony today, the Smithsonian’s National Museum of American History received a collection of objects from “The X-Files,” the television series and movie franchise. David Duchovny: 'The X-Files' is equal to God

These days, every major genre film and hit show has a significant presence on the Internet, but that wasn’t the case when "The X-Files" became a spooky sensation in the 1990s. David Duchovny said that, like his character Fox Mulder, the relentless faith of true believers is astounding to behold. " 'The X-Files' was said to be the first Internet show," Duchovny said over coffee on a recent morning in Los Angeles. "We had chat rooms and fan sites and all that. Look, I’m usually five or six years behind whatever is hip. So it was around 2000 that I started doing e-mail and f ... [Continua a leggere]
