David Duchovny, Gillian Anderson discuss the return of The X-Files

LOS ANGELES — While other TV shows come and go, the science-fiction drama “The X-Files” created by Chris Carter has returned after a long hiatus that followed a long television run. Starring David Duchovny (as FBI special agent Fox Mulder) and Gillian Anderson (as FBI special agent Dana Scully), the TV series, which originally premiered on September 10, 1993, returned for an 11th season of 10 episodes, with the season premiering at the beginning of this year. We were able to talk to Duchovny, 57, and Anderson, 49, recently and they share with us their thoughts and feelings ... [Continua a leggere]

Gillian Anderson: ‘I always look long-term at relationships – as long as there is a back door’

She has a reputation for being aloof (which she denies), complicated relationships (with both sexes) and an onscreen chemistry with her X-Files co-star (that still has fans guessing). Who is the real Gillian Anderson?

Ask Gillian Anderson a simple question and you get a simple answer. For example, why – after a quarter of a century playing Agent Dana Scully – is she now leaving The X-Files? “Because.” She leaves the single word hanging in the air. It is a complete sentence, not the beginning of one. She softens the finality of it with a quirky, lopsided smile. This is Anderson to a T – accountable to no one, enigmatic, slightly abrasive, yet captivating and very likeable. So there you have it, the inside story: “Because.” Filling in the gaps around this word, ... [Continua a leggere]

X-Files star admits: ‘We didn’t do our best work’

DAVID Duchovny has made a rather frank admission about 2016’s long-awaited but ultimately disappointing return of the X-Files.

X-FILES fans can breathe a sigh of relief. David Duchovny says season 11 has redeemed itself from 2016’s fizzer. “I am much happier about doing these next 10 episodes than I was about the last six,” the sci fi star tells news.com.au, referring to season 10, which aired last year. “These shows are significantly better and we are all doing better work this time around,” he assures. “There are many reasons why we might not have done our best work last season probably due to the long layoff. I also think the season was too short to make an entire show.” ... [Continua a leggere]

TCA 2018: 'The X-Files' Panel

As part of the TCA Winter sessions, FOX organized a studio day for the journalists involved in the traditional gathering for the press. This Q&A had been advertised to be with the attendance of David Duchovny, Gillian Anderson, Mitch Pileggi, and Chris Carter. Due to the current mudslide and storm situation in Montecito and Santa Barbara areas, Carter had to skip the event but producers Glen Morgan, Darin Morgan and Jim Wong stepped up to be part of the panel. After the presentation of the latest trailer of the new season, the different members of the press took turns to inquire about th ... [Continua a leggere]

Gillian Anderson on Her ‘X-Files’ Future: ‘I’m Finished and That’s the End of That’

Gillian Anderson has given a lot of thought to why she feels she is done with creating new episodes of “The X-Files,” and it boils down to the fact that when she embarked upon the revival of Chris Carter’s hit genre series back in 2015, it was never pitched to her as a full-fledged return to create a whole new, on-going version of the series. “I thought that the previous six was going to be it,” Anderson admitted during a panel for the second chapter of “The X-Files” revival at the Television Critics Assn’s winter press tour on Wednesday. &ldquo ... Gillian Anderson Confirms She's Exiting Fox's 'The X-Files,' Starz's 'American Gods'

The actress told reporters Wednesday at a set visit as part of TCA that she's done with both dramas.

Gillian Anderson is finished with The X-Files, the actress confirmed Wednesday during a panel organized as part of the Television Critics Association's winter press tour. Anderson said that she originally intended to sign on for the six-episode revival in 2017. She also confirmed that she's walking away from Starz drama American Gods after showrunners Bryan Fuller and Michael Green quit the series.  "It's time for me to hang up Scully's hat. It just is," Anderson told reporters, ruling out any potential return in the future. "I'm finished, and that's the end of that." ... [Continua a leggere]

David Duchovny And Gillian Anderson On Keeping ‘The X-Files’ Relevant In An Utterly Different World

On the latest episode of The X-Files, FBI Special Agents Dana Scully (Gillian Anderson) and Fox Mulder (David Duchovny) attempt to unravel the latest mysteries presented by the series’ ongoing alien conspiracy mythology. And just in case you were wondering, yes it’s 2018 and not 1993. Chris Carter’s popular science fiction series first premiered on September 10th, 1993 and ran until May 19th, 2002, but it returned for a short six-episode revival in 2016, which went well enough to produce yet another round. Ask Ausiello: Spoilers on The X-Files, The Walking Dead, The Flash, Once, Lucifer, New Girl, Big Bang and More

Question: Will we see Mulder and Scully’s son William in Season 11 of The X-Files? And, if so, is he more like Mulder or Scully? —RicardaAusiello: Yes, we will see him. David Duchovny and Gillian Anderson were cagey about their demon-ish spawn’s identity when I grilled them on stage at New York Comic-Con earlier this month, but the pair were slightly more forthcoming after the panel. Anderson told me the actor (whose name has yet to be announced) “looks like a normal kid” and Duchovny offered this cryptic tease when I asked him which of hi ... [Continua a leggere]

NYCC 2017: Gillian Anderson On Cliffhangers, William, And Immortality

To fans of science fiction, Gillian Anderson needs no introduction. For nine years starting in 1993, Anderson played Dana Scully on ‘The X-Files’. She further brought the character to the screen on two separate occasions (first in 1998 and again in 2008) before returning to television for the series’ revival on Fox in 2016. But even after all that, the truth, it seems, is still out there. With filming well underway on the show’s upcoming eleventh season, we had the opportunity to sit down with Anderson at New York Comic Con. During the conversation, the actress spoke ab ... THE X-FILES New York Comic-Con Press Room: William Is Out There, But the Truth Might Not Be

Without giving away too much, the talent shared some details about what we might expect in THE X-FILES season 11 and even took a look back at how the series’ main characters have changed. Closing out that cliffhanger… THE X-FILES’ last all-new episode ended with humanity — especially fans’ beloved Fox Mulder — in crisis. While nobody was exactly going to give away THE X-FILES’ b ... Gillian Anderson on 'X-Files' Future: 'I Think This Will Be It for Me'

It isn’t The X-Files until Mulder and Scully are running through a cemetery. X-Files creator Chris Carter joined stars David Duchovny, Gillian Anderson, and Mitch Pileggi on the main stage at New York Comic Con on Sunday to tease the sci-fi series’ upcoming return — and debut a new trailer, which promises plenty more drama for the partners (and a longer wig!).
