On Set Interview: Frank Spotnitz on The X-Files!

Earlier this year, the IESB visited the set of the Untitled X-Files Sequel in Vancouver. Along with a group of journalists, we toured the set, talked with director Chris Carter, stars David Duchovony and Gillian Anderson and we also had the great opportunity to talk with Frank Spotnitz, producer, writer and brain (along with Carter) behind the X-Files.

Spotnitz gave our entire group a tour around the set, being very coy about certain details and questions. Along the way, we were able to ask about coming back to this franchise, reviving the characters and more! Read the walk-and-talk below! Q: How psyched are you to be back? FS: I have to say I really didn't think it was going to happen, after all of these years…negotiations…working on the story. I really sort of thought this wasn't going to happen. And it's been a dream. It's been fantastic. Working on the script was a joy. Being with David [Duchovny] and Gillian [ ... [Continua a leggere]

On Set Interview: Gillian Anderson Returns as Agent Scully!

The IESB sat down with Gillian Anderson on the set of The X-Files in Vancouver earlier this year to talk about returning to the role that changed her life and what she has planned for the future.

Anderson made redheads all the rage in the '90's as straight-faced Agent Scully and has returned to the role with a renewed sense of purpose and excitement. Read Gillian's on set interview with the IESB and the visiting group of journalists below. Q: A friend of mine is a big fan… Gillian Anderson: A friend of yours!? What was your question? Q: She followed the whole show and she said, "I thought Gillian wanted to go off and do these things in England and have this whole different career and wanted to leave The X-Files behind." GA: Well, I did. And I did. But I think I've made it pr ... [Continua a leggere]

On Set Interview: David Duchovny Talks X-Files

While visiting the set of X-Files: I Want to Believe in Vancouver, the IESB along with a group of journalists, sat down with star David Duchovny to talk about the new film!

Duchovny is a crack up. Read the entire interview below and, yes, he really did say that about how he likes a directors' hands on him...I kid you not. Read the entire David Duchovny interview from the set of The X-Files: I Want to Believe in Vancouver below. Q: When the series started, it sort of captured the zeitgeist in the country in a way other shows hadn't before. How is the X-Files different now that the world has completely changed since the last film? David Duchovny: Has the world completely changed? (laughter) Q: Since 1998, I say it has, since 9/11. DD: People say the world has c ... [Continua a leggere]

Set Visit: X-Files 2!

I’m standing inside Mulder’s office staring up at the pencils stuck up in the ceiling tile. Clutter is all around. Newspaper clippings, post-it notes, mysterious photographs are stuck on the wall, piled on the desk and stuffed in files. As you might expect, it’s very Mulder-esque. This is Mulder’s office. I’m here doing my own investigation. It’s as mysterious and cryptic as the best episodes of “The X-Files” set. My assignment: find out what the hell is going on on the set of the X-FILES sequel. "I Want To Believe " Behind an abandon ... [Continua a leggere]

'X-FILES 2' DAY: Interviewing Frank Spotnitz

'X-Files 2' producer and co-writer

We jam our recorders into Frank Spotnitz's goateed mug as if his chin is a battery charging hub. He's our tour guide for the set visit minus the microphone and bus, and we're taking him to task on his tour guide skills by drilling questions at him like it's tennis with 3 balls. It's a mobile press conference and yes yes, the set is nifty and all, but what in the hell is the official name for X-Files 2 and how's Vancouver treating you and where's Mulder's infamous porn collection stashed? Yet, that's warm up. Part 1 How psyched are you to be back? Frank Spotnitz (FS): Oh I have to say I ... [Continua a leggere]

'X-FILES 2' DAY: Interviewing Chris Carter

'X-Files 2' producer, co-writer and director

A few us stumbled upon Chris Carter in the catering tent early afternoon. We had him cornered. And caught off guard with a pastry hanging from his mouth. No better time for him to slip and actually give us some real answers about X-Files 2. Yet all we—the cream of the movie news press—could rally was a hard hitting probe regarding Larry, Carter's enormous standard poodle that'd been roaming the set. The sun is melting into an oil slick now. Several reporters grumble about the ever-increasing possibility of missing their flights. Carter has been promised to us all day. But h ... 'X-FILES 2' DAY: Interviewing Gillian Anderson

The lovely lady also known as Scully

We've been anticipating the interview with Gillian Anderson all day. After all, the majority of us are men. Geeks. Nerds. And a few mutants perhaps. Several of us young enough to have tacked a pinup of her on our bedroom wall during high school or college. I did. And to this day I still have a fondness for red heads… in business suits. I don't know what to expect when she joins us at the round table. Perhaps there'll be an absolute collapse of professionalism and Gillian will be confronted by a dozen crazed, drool-choked fanboys asking her to autograph their flabby chests. I had ... 'X-FILES 2' DAY: Interviewing David Duchovny

You may know him as Fox Mulder

We've pushed two plastic refectory tables together and called dibs on our seats like children at lunch, aiming to score the chair next to the cool kid. Word is David Duchovny is rolling in early just to jam with us as only a busy, world famous actor and 15 lowly entertainment journos can. He's the first interview and we hear he's coming soon; he may already be here. And then we wait very quiet like for minutes, as if the slightest conversation will propel Duchovny to his trailer and fortify it with mace and tire iron. The soundstage is nothing more than a dank warehouse, and when the i ... [Continua a leggere]

'X-FILES 2' DAY: The Story of a Set Visit

Not your average day at the office

Okay so it's happening like this. It's mid-February and Fox has shipped RopeofSilicon and a gang of other press folks out to visit the X-Files 2 set. And we're inside a dank warehouse by some fairgrounds where rollercoasters loop across the horizon like red scribble. Not doing much of anything. No directions given other than to wait and not break anything. And no photos please. You'll be seeing the set soon enough and we'll work in interviews when we can. Great. Awesome. Fantastic. I need a breather anyway after that rocket ride through Vancouver our Elton John look-alike driver gave us ... [Continua a leggere]

SET VISIT PART 1: David Duchovny Gets Spooky in The X-Files 2!

Interview: The X-Files' Gillian Anderson

ShockTillYouDrop.com spoke to Gillian Anderson on the set of Fox's new X-Files sequel, opening in theaters on July 25th.

ShockTillYouDrop.com: Why return to the X-Files after all of this time?Gillian Anderson: I think that I've always made it pretty clear, no matter what has been rumored in the press, that were we to come together, or were somebody to get it together to do a film, that I would be happy, willing and hopefully able to participate. There were a few times there where it looked like it might not happen, but there are many times when I, when people were saying it was going to happen, didn't believe it was going to happen. I was always on board, no matter else what I was doing at my time in my life.Sho ... [Continua a leggere]

Interview: The X-Files' David Duchovny

ShockTillYouDrop.com spoke to David Duchovny on the set of Fox's new X-Files sequel, opening in theaters on July 25th.

ShockTillYouDrop: So much about the plot is being kept in the dark, so what can you tell us about some of the themes of the film?David Duchovny: I think the reasoning behind being mum about what's going on the film, at least for Chris, is to give the audience an experience of surprise which is so hard to do with trailers. Having said that, the themes are the same as the show [which were] belief and faith and the relationship between Mulder and Scully and how that develops over the past four or five years the show has been off the air. As if they've been living, as we've all been living ... [Continua a leggere]

A Set Visit to the X-Files Sequel!

It began with a werewolf. I'm speaking about my interest, that is, in 20th Century Fox's brand spankin' new X-Files feature film. But for the sake of explanation and full disclosure, allow me to back up and come clean about a few things. As a fan once living in New York City, I attended one of the first X-Files fan conventions at the Javits Center. First in line. Opening day. Stamp "Chick Magnet" on me now. Yes, I had an appreciation of the show and, like so many out there, my fascination with the quest for truth - spearheaded by Fox Mulder and Dana Scully - checked out the back door when the ... Duchovny Files Second Film

The man behind Mulder talks about the forthcoming sequel

Before 1993, David Duchovny was probably best known as transsexual agent Dennis/Denise Bryson on Twin Peaks -- and for many sci-fi and fantasy fans, that would have been more than enough to earn him eternal admiration. But 15 years, 173 episodes and now two movies later, he has become the equivalent of genre-entertainment royalty thanks to The X-Files, an iconic science fiction series that is currently being updated on the big screen for a second time. Along with a small coterie of journalists and reporters from other international and online outlets, IGN was invited to tour the set of the upc ... [Continua a leggere]

XFN Exclusive: Spencer Maybee Interview

The newest guest star to be added to the as yet untitled second X-Files motion picture is none other than writer, producer and actor Spencer Maybee. The Toronto native, who plays the father of terminally ill Christian in the latest installment of the X-Files franchise, charmed the pants of the XFN staff. XFN contributor gunmetal had the opportunity to talk to Maybee about rugby, music and that certain X-Files movie. Additionally, Spencer even provided us with two pictures -- the short haired one is his look for the movie! XFN: What was it like to film at the famously haunted Riverview Hospita ...
