David Duchovny is not an easy interview. That's not to say he's a difficult or quiet actor in a Tommy Lee Jones kind of way. But he is one of the smartest people I've ever interviewed. Now that the title of The X-Files: I Want to Believe has been released, it can be revealed that SCI FI Wire and a group of journalists visited the movie's set in Vancouver, Canada, in February and saw that the source of that title will appear in a key scene: When Dana Scully (Gillian Anderson) reunites with her former FBI partner, Fox Mulder (David Duchovny). Earlier this year, the IESB visited the set of the Untitled X-Files Sequel in Vancouver. Along with a group of journalists, we toured the set, talked with director Chris Carter, stars David Duchovony and Gillian Anderson and we also had the great opportunity to talk with Frank Spotnitz, producer, writer and brain (along with Carter) behind the X-Files.
Spotnitz gave our entire group a tour around the set, being very coy about certain details and questions. A few us stumbled upon Chris Carter in the catering tent early afternoon. We had him cornered. And caught off guard with a pastry hanging from his mouth. No better time for him to slip and actually give us some real answers about X-Files 2. And we're inside a dank warehouse by some fairgrounds where rollercoasters loop across the horizon like red scribble. Not doing much of anything.
