Stranger Than…

Chris Carter, the creator of “The X-Files” is used to dealing in strange realities; this season he has created another in the new series “Harsh Realm,” which has its premiere this Friday night at 9. So if any producer could deal with the strangeness of working on a show with a star, David Duchovny, who is suing his network, and who, in his suit, accused Mr. Carter of accepting “hush money,” it is probably the man who made millions of viewers try to figure out the “mythology” of “The X-Files.” In a telephone news conferen ... The Next Files

X-Files Magazine: How does it feel to begin work on the much rumored final season? Spotnitz: Every story feels like it’s got a lot of weight attached to it because they may be the last 22. We’re being careful about what stories we choose to tell. One of the very first things we did was sit down and talk about all of our major characters and where they’re going to go and how they’re going to end. Where’s Skinner going to end up? Where’s Krycek going to end up? What’s the last image you’ll see of CSM? It’s a little sad actually ... [Continua a leggere]

Going Hungry

In season seven’s first stand-alone, Vince Gilligan tells the tale of a monster’s tragic eating disorder. Vince Gilligan has everyone fooled. The X-Files writer/co-executive producer best known for quirky episodes like Seasons Four’s “Small Potatoes” and Season Five’s “Bad Blood” projects an unmistakable Southern charm; in person, he is amiable, easy-going, good-natured. But lurking somewhere deep within his psyche is a villainous imp. There must be. There’s simply no other explanation for how someone so unassuming could send ... [Continua a leggere]

[X-Files and Harsh Realm]

X-Files creator Chris Carter talks in vague terms about Harsh Realm and still finding time to finish X-File-ing the show’s seventh and rumored final season

As if TV and movies aren’t far enough removed from reality, this year’s release of The Matrix, the Spanish feature Open Your Eyes and now Chris Carter’s television series Harsh Realm are celebrating the potential of virtual reality, a world that exists only in our mind’s eye and in some computer drive somewhere. It’s a topic that TV has tackled before (anybody remember VR5?), but until now virtual reality has been a place where the average television viewer hasn’t been interested enough to go to. But when the creator of Fox Television’s ... [Continua a leggere]

There’s No Fighting the Future

All signs are pointing to this being the last season for The X-Files. Somehow, many people have overlooked this.

Fans of The X-Files have been waiting for the truth a lot of years now. The truth they are about to hear probably isn’t what they were expecting: The show is over. Anyone who thinks there’s even the smallest amount of hope for another season is living in some kind of elaborately constructed Chris Carter dream world that is wonderfully disconnected to the truly ugly, often horrifying world of Hollywood. Given that fans of the show – and I’ve been one since the pilot episode – tend to know events months before they appear in print or in episodes, the ... [Continua a leggere]

Pasadena Press Conference: Harsh Realm

DOUG HERZOG: Okay, we are back and ready to continue. We are enormously excited and thrilled at FOX to have a brand new series from the multi-award winning producer Chris Carter. And this time he’s going to take FOX viewers into the world of virtual reality. So let’s take a look at “Harsh Realm.” [CLIP SHOWN: "HARSH REALM"] HERZOG: All right, it is now — [applause] Thank you. It is now my pleasure to introduce executive producer and creator of “Harsh Realm,” Chris Carter, along with some of the cast members: Rachel Hayward ... [Continua a leggere]

One hit wonder?

With Millennium floundering, will Chris Carter ever be more than a one hit wonder? Jeff Craig talks to him on the set of his new show, Harsh Realm…

“I was never a science fiction fan. I spoke to a group once, and they were shocked that I’d never seen Star Trek. But I’m just not a science fiction fan. It’s never interested me.” It’s a bit of a shock admission from a man who, thanks to the massive worldwide success of his first SF series, The X-Files, now has the creative autonomy and network clout to produce whatever he damn wants… and has returned to the SF fold for the third time. With the X-movie franchise now assured and Millennium into its third series, the former surf-boy jour ... [Continua a leggere]

The Truth is out there for Phoenix native – Frank Spotnitz

“I think that part of the fun of the show is how people struggle to decipher the conspiracy,” Frank Spotnitz says of The X-Files, which stars David Duchovny and Gillian Anderson.

Frank Spotnitz knows The Truth. Chris Carter, creator of the paranoia-prone Fox drama The X-Files, has shared with Spotnitz his vision for what has come to be called The Mythology. That places Spotnitz, a Phoenix native and one of the show’s executive producers, inside a tiny band of Earthlings who knows how the series’ long-running alien-invasion story arc will resolve itself a year from now. For the record, he’s not sharing. Would you? After tonight’s season finale, only 22 episodes of The X-Files remain. According to Spotnitz, six or seven of them wi ... [Continua a leggere]

My Experience at The End

Bear with me. This is the first time I'm writing this down after exactly one year (purely unintentional) and some things are bound to be off. Tuesday, 21 April 1998 was the day. I was attending college and a friend and I, at around 11:00AM, sort of skipped an optional lab. We had lunch and then walked over to the main line-up at GM Place. Many local and LA media where there. I know "Entertainment Tonight" was there and their cameras were shooting the line-up. Other local radios stations (Z95.3, CFOX, etc.) and TV stations (BCTV, UTV, VTV, etc.) were there. Anyway, during the wait my frie ... [Continua a leggere]

The X-Files: Chris Carter Six Underground

There’s something different about TXF this year. By all rights, a series in its sixth season should be flagging, as the writers run short of ideas, the actors lose their energy and settings and scenarios begin to look frustratingly familiar. Furthermore, following in the wake of last year’s blockbuster movie, one would expect a sense of anti-climax, a feeling that it’s all so much smaller and less significant on the tv screen. This hasn’t happened. Against the odds, fans and critics have been quick to praise the latest series as one of the best yet, which ... [Continua a leggere]

AOL Chat – Chris Carter

OnlineHost: Chris Carter, creator of Millennium and The X-Files is now with us. Good evening, Chris, thank you for joining us! Chris Carter: I’m happy to be here and answer any questions… as long as they’re not too embarrassing. OnlineHost: Great, let’s get started. Question: Is there going to be a Millennium/X-Files crossover episode? Chris Carter: I hope so, and this would be the year to do it. I have a story in mind… that involves Scully and Emma and Frank Black. Question: Does Millennium show the honest side of the characters, or is it all one ... [Continua a leggere]

TV Guide Online: Chris Carter – X-Files and Millennium Honcho

Spoiler alert! How can you find out secrets of upcoming X-Files episodes? None of that cloak-and-dagger stuff for our Jeanne Wolf. She went right to the source and asked series creator Chris Carter. Fortune favors the brave: Carter spills the beans here, so stop reading if you like to be surprised.

Q: Any news about another X-Files movie? A: There will be a second X-Files movie as far as I am concerned. But it won’t be on this summer’s hiatus. It seems like the actors are very excited to do it. It’s just a matter of finding the time, and I think it would either come out in the summer of 2001 or possibly 2002. It would have been great to culminate the series and go right into the next big movie. I think there will be a year, or possibly two years in between. Q: What do you mean, “culminate”? A: Next year is probably the last year of The X-Files. ... [Continua a leggere]

Secrets and Lies

No more guessing, no more theories – X-Files creator Chris Carter says he’s finally blowing the lid off TV’s longest-running conspiracy. but where do Mulder and Scully go from here?

X-Files actors live in mortal fear of it: the big kiss-off from series creator Chris Carter. The bell doesn’t toll often for regular characters (among the unlucky few: Deep Throat, X and Bill Mulder), but the possibility hovers, like an alien spaceship, over the cast. For one actor, the phone rang days before shooting began on a momentous two-parter (airing Feb. 7 and 14), a sweeps event that Fox is trumpeting as “The X Files conspiracy…exposed!” Divulging the identity of the doomed player would, of course, ruin the second episode’s penultimate shoc ... The End is Out There for 'The X-Files'

Series Creator Claims Finale is Only a Season and a Half Away

PASADENA – Ultimately, we may never know if the truth is out there. Chris Carter, the man who created “The X-Files” – which is now in its sixth season – said it’s highly unlikely that the show will go beyond a seventh season, so he’s going to start telling the truth. Of course, that’s a little like a sheep-herding young man we all know crying wolf for the 99th time. Fox is touting a special two-parter on Feb. 7 and 14 – in the heart of sweeps – that “reveals the series’ deepest secrets.” In fact, Fox say ... [Continua a leggere]

Cinescape’s Season Seven Interview with Frank Spotnitz

It seems like just yesterday that The X-Files was the little cult show that could. But now the successful series is heading into its seventh-and likely final-season. And although the series isn’t quite the media hype magnet it once was, in many ways the show is still on top of its game. “It’s like a marriage,” says X-Files executive producer Frank Spotnitz. “We have been around for six years and people know us. It becomes harder to surprise people, but we just keep doing the same hard work we’ve always done and try and deliver the best quality ... [Continua a leggere]
