Leave it to Chris Carter and company to make the penultimate The X-Filesepisode of the season arguably the most viscerally gory of the whole series, and yet the most emotionally bare we’ve ever seen Mulder and Scully be towards each other. “Nothing Lasts Forever” is the very first X-Files script written by Season 10 and Season 11 script coordinator, Karen Nielsen. One of only six invited participants in the prestigious Canadian Film Centre's Bell Media Prime Time TV Writer's Program, Nielsen actually first worked with The X-Files executive ... Over the span of The X-Files' 24-years of existence, actor Mitch Pileggi has embodied the role of Agent Mulder and Agent Scully's gruff, emotionally reserved boss, FBI Assistant Director Walter Sergei Skinner. Aside from the knowledge that he was in Vietnam and almost died, that he was married once, and that his relationship with his X-Files agents can at best be described as "complicated," Skinner remains largely a mystery. Even Pileggi was admittedly mock-grousing in Season 10 that it would be nice to know more about his character. Luckily, Chris Carter's assistant and X ... [Continua a leggere]
SPOILER WARNING: Tonight's episode of The X-Files, "Ghouli," discussed at length below.
Fans of The X-Files know that the writing team of James Wong and Glen Morgan has produced some of the creepiest episodes of the series. "Squeeze," "Tooms," "Home" -- they all rank as series classics, which are still referenced with reverence today. The duo actually left to create their own series, Space: Above and Beyond (1996), but remained in the world of Chris Carter shows, writing episodes of The X-Files until 1997, and for the series, Millennium and The Lone Gunmen. Wong and Morgan also started the Final Destination franchise, co-writing the first and third films, with Wong directing the ... [Continua a leggere]
EXCLUSIVE: THE X-FILES' DARIN MORGAN REFLECTS ON FALSE MEMORIES AND 'THE LOST ART OF FOREHEAD SWEAT'
The X-Files universe may be one full of mystery and uncertainty, but there's at least one thing about it that is crystal clear: When writer, and now, director Darin Morgan's name is on an episode, audiences can always expect a weird and wonderful ride. Morgan's first contribution to the series was the story for Season 2 episode, "Blood," and since then he's written ace installments like Season 3 episodes, "Clyde Bruckman's Final Repose," and "Jose Chung's 'From Outer Space,'" and arguably the best episode of Season 10, "Mulder & Scully Meet the Were-Monster". Morgan's episodes have a ten ... [Continua a leggere]
SPOILER WARNING! This week's episode of The X-Files, "Plus One," discussed at length below.
Wait?! Did MSR (Mulder/Scully Romance) fans just see in "Plus One" what they've been hoping to see since the FBI agents lip-locked at the end of Season 8? Damn right they did, and all of that relationship goodness was mashed inside a classic-style X-File involving super creepy, Hangman-playing twins, Judy and Chuck. In case you didn't catch it, the tour de force performances of both "Little Judy" and cranky Chuck were both played by actress Karin Konoval. And surprise, this dual role is actually Konoval's third separate appearance on The X-Files. In 1995, she played Madame Zelma in ... [Continua a leggere]
