Chris Carter on 'X-Files 3'

Everyone loves a good scary story. We sit around telling them at campfires, at sleepovers, and we watch them on TV all the time. One of the best television series to delve into the frightening side of mythology and the paranormal is X-Files, a FOX television series that ran for nine, count ‘em, nine seasons, and produced two movies. Well guess what X-Files fans? Director Christ Carter says that he’s willing to produce a third film.

Though the series reached its conclusion back in 2002, fans have been writing fan fiction, comic books and even collecting action figures and toys ever since.

X-Files, starring David Duchovny as Fox Mulder and Gillian Anderson as Dana Scully, is a science fiction series that involves government conspiracies, alien activity, paranormal encounters, and unforgettable characters. As reported by The Toronto Sun, Carter told fans during a reddit AMA discussion that “[N]o one’s ever really dead on the X-Files. It’s basically the opposite of Game of Thrones.” No one can argue with that, since each character is so original and full of surprises that it is nearly impossible to forget them.

When asked about making a third X-Files film, Carter said “It’s really up to Twentieth Century Fox . . . I think all of us are interested in putting the band back together. I have an idea for a third movie in my head,” reports Empire. If Carter has his way, the third film will return to its mythological roots and will take place around December 22, 2002, which corresponds to an alien invasion in the television series.

During his reddit talk, Carter was asked to describe the third X-Files film in only three words, to which he replied “The second movie could definitely be summed up in 3 words: ‘don’t give up.’ The third movie: ‘Just you wait.’”

Well, if that isn’t exciting enough for you I suggest you log into your Netflix account and try out the first season of X-Files. You’ll be hooked by Agent Fox Mulder and his crazy speculations, and charmed by Agent Dana Scully’s patient scientific explanations for even the most outrageous events!
