Filming of The X-Files sequel wraps

Goodbye, and thanks for all the aliens. The cast and crew of the still-untitled X-Files feature film sequel wrapped up work in Vancouver with a news conference Wednesday, a brief lifting of a curtain of secrecy that the production has maintained through three months of filming."We've had lots of paparazzi," said writer-director Chris Carter. "In Langley a couple of days ago a black SUV pulled up on the side of the road and there was a long lens pointed at us."The next day, pictures of stars David Duchovny and Gillian Anderson, locked in a full-on kiss as FBI agents Fox Mulder and Dana Scully, a ... X-Files team including Chris Carter and David Duchovny thank Vancouver as principal photography completed

At a press conference held this afternoon at the Sutton Place Hotel for the X-Files movie currently in production, creator Chris Carter, writer Frank Spotnitz, and a sleepy-looking David Duchovny (they finished shooting at 8 a.m. this morning) assembled themselves before Vancouver media in a hotel conference room to announce the completion of their principal photography here for the upcoming X-Files movie, and to thank the city. Chris said that this is “our home now”. “This was the place where we succeeded," he said. "I think that if there are 10 people things to credit with ... [Continua a leggere]

Vancouver criticisms a ‘non-existent controversy,' X-files star says

VANCOUVER — David Duchovny says the controversy over remarks he made about Vancouver was a “newspaper-generated false non-existent controversy” – and that the idea for criticizing the city on Late Night with Conan O'Brien came from the talk show, not him.Mr. Duchovny addressed the controversy – now more than a decade old – at a news conference held in Vancouver Wednesday afternoon. It was called so producers of the coming X-Files movie could “express their gratitude” to the city, where production on the film is just wrapping, and where the series ... [Continua a leggere]

Interview with Chris Carter

VG: Chris Carter is with me as The X-Files launches its 7th season, November the 7th – that’s a bit late if you ask me. But, unfortunately the new series “Harsh Realm,” just got whacked after three episodes, and we can’t figure out just why that is – but I will say, Mr. Carter, sir, that you’re as big a star as the people that are on your show. Isn’t it weird how that happens? CC: Ha – [laughs] hardly. Not today, at least. VG: What happened, with Harsh Realm? CC: It just didn’t get the ratings they had hoped, it d ... [Continua a leggere]

X-Files producer can’t let go of Vancouver

Director Chris Carter may be busy giving a new look to his famous TV series in L.A., but he hasn’t forgotten his roots in Vancouver. The X-Files may have fled the rain but Chris Carter, the southern California-raised surfer dude turned pop-culture savant, has quietly donned his hipwaders for more wet nights in the city that gave The X-Files its dark, brooding look for five years. On Sunday, Carter’s most ambitious X-Files yet — an episode called Triangle, a loose amalgam of The Wizard of Oz, Alfred Hitchcock’s Rope and Casablanca revisited on acid — ... [Continua a leggere]

X-Files creator bids B.C. sad adieu

The creator and executive-producer of The X-Files says it was a wrenching decision to move the popular television series to its new home in Los Angeles.

Chris Carter says he was nearly overcome with emotion when he broke the news late Friday night to his Vancouver crew, which was shooting one of the few remaining episodes of the season at a Kingsway Street motel. Carter said that, in the end, he owed it to his two stars, David Duchovny and Gillian Anderson, to allow them to return to their homes after five years of working abroad. In an interview by phone from Los Angeles Sunday, Carter admitted that he had promised Duchovny and Anderson that the show would not stay in Vancouver indefinitely. Duchovny told several ... Vancouver Sun

Shaken, stirred and satisfied. That’s how X-Files creator Chris Carter felt after seeing the cast and crew of his new TV series Harsh Realm reproduce the battle-scarred streets of Sarajevo down to the last bullet-scarred detail last weekend on a block-long stretch of Vancouver’s Downtown Eastside. “Believe me, I don’t consider myself to be a philosopher,” Carter said, taking in the scene in his characteristic even-tempered, California surfer-dude voice. “This is the amazing thing: I’m telling stories that I want to tell and people seem t ...
